static shock; isn't really pain due to injury (or shouldn't be if done correctly) so much as overloading touch receptors. Your brain will often interrupt any new sensation as pain as a primal flight of fight type response. Once you know what to expect and how to manage the sensation it can actually be rather relaxing to have the skin and muscles activated in such a unique way.
