If the provider is a mature person obviously they would understand the concern of the mutual friend finding out.

I had a cpl who we took a year to finally meet because my ex bf was a mutual friend of a friend of theres.

and it all worked out and still no one knows...

Discretion is key in this.

The only secrets you can keep in confidence are ones where *both* parties would be burned by disclosure. In this case if the mutual friend doesn't know the woman's a pro, that's ideal: she's not about to out herself just to gossip about you.

If the mutual friend knows but your wife does not, this could be a problem. In that scenario, what if the pro told her friend, and her friend felt duty-bound by friendship with your wife to clue her in?

Another problem I ran into once was that the pro was a friend of mine before I knew her job. We flirted and had lunch together a couple of times, and according to her code of conduct that made me off-limits. She refused to work with me!

You may not fare so well if wifey finds out about the indiscretion AND that you PAID for it and do so regularly! Once this whole little world of ours is presented to your wife's divorcee attorney you're screwed, and not in the good way!

I have a provider that is customer of mine through my job and her real world job. I had no idea at the time of my 1st appointment that is who I was going to see,to say I was surprised is an understatement actually for each of us !! I went in and had a talk about me keep this under my hat, which I have zero desire to out her and I don't have a SO, her secret is my secret. Funny part of the conversation was that I told her I always thought she was hot and wouldn't mind banging her....wishes do come true...
