Jeanne Assam … said she “did not think for a minute to run away” when a gunman entered the New Life Church in Colorado Springs and started shooting.

There was applause as Assam spoke to a small crowd saying, “God guided me and protected me.”

New Life’s Senior Pastor Brady Boyd called Assam “a real hero” because the gunman, Matthew Murray, “had enough ammunition on him to cause a lot of damage.” …

“I saw him coming through the doors” and took cover, Assam said. “I came out of cover and identified myself and engaged him and took him down.” …

Murray was carrying two handguns, an assault rifle and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, said Sgt. Jeff Johnson of the Colorado Springs Police Department. …

Boyd said Assam’s actions saved the lives of 50 to 100 people.

Murray was only able to kill two before he was stopped.

In contrast, nine were killed at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston on Wednesday. As Katie Pavlich notes, this church does not allow members to carry firearms.

Like the location of every mass shooting in the USA since at least 1950 with only two exceptions, the Charleston church is a gun-free zone.

Yet liberals in the government and media immediately pounced on this tragedy, exploiting it shamelessly to attack the Second Amendment. They openly hope to turn the entire country into a gun-free zone, where only criminals and authorities who can’t be everywhere would have guns.

It is hard to avoid the impression that Obama et al. have no interest in preventing these incidents; otherwise they would want people to be able to defend themselves.
