Anyone watch HBO True Detective?

I really liked the final scene with Marty and Rust outside the hospital. It was a little comical when Marty gave him a gift wrapped present and Rust said "ah, you remembered."
But it was moving when Rust told him about his near death experience...his daughter and his Pops.
What did y'all think of the Season 2 opener?

Was the hot ass Latina fucking the hot ass River Pheonix-esque Vet the missing sister pictured in the photo when they went to deliver the foreclosure papers on that farmhouse in Ventura? I'm gonna have to go back and look.

I like the set up. Lots of story to unravel already. Not as mysterious as the Pilot. I think they got away with a lot in Season 1, timewise, simply because of the excellent casting. Season 2 is lining up the drama front and center.

It looks like the missing sister but I couldn't tell myself. If you find out please share!

I'm going to still give it a chance but season 1 set the bar so damn high I'm afraid this may be one of those series that never lives up to it's potential, like American Horror Story.

Just watched the ending of the Season 2 opener...again. Wow! Watching those three fucked up cops sizing each other up over the corpse. I can't wait!

Short answer: No. Either was bad casting 2 characters that look so much alike or it's going to play some part in the story.

Definately not on par with Season 1.
I respectfully disagree. After one episode, who can tell. But I always like VVaughn, especially when he plays the shady guy--shows he can act and is not just a one liner funny guy (but usually love that too--with several exceptions).

I will say that it will be nearly impossible to top the first season but it should be a great ride. Even better if Rachel McAdams would get totally nude, Al, but can't imagine that happening...

I liked it, if only for the anticipation of where it could lead. If you judge a whole season after one show you miss out on much in life.
Damn...so Farrell is....gone?? Beginning to look like Sons of Anarchy; no major character is safe, lol.
Idk, considering how much he wanted to die I'd put my money on him living. This show isn't known to give characters what they want (just "what they deserve") and he had just said in the bar to Semyon that he wanted to die.

I think Farrell has been paid for all 8 episodes (at least according to IMDB) so there's that too. Fear not.

What do you think about Season 2 now?
Loving it!! Every bit as good as Season 1
I love it too. It's maintained that dark, painfully complex human theme. The four main characters are all extremely flawed "good guys" (even Semyon). I've tried picking a favorite and I can't.

Specifically though, I like the extra padding on all the story lines that keeps making you go back and remember who is who and how they're connected. Season 1 seemed to rely more on its oppositional character casting based on two of Hollywood's biggest names. Still a great season of course, but S2 had something to prove and imo it definitely shows.

Ani is gonna catch hell for last night's ending. I won't spoil it for anyone but I'd be surprised if she still has a job next week. I started to wonder in the middle of last night's episode if she will go undercover with her sister's help to find these parties but now idk.
I'm really enjoying how the story is evolving so far. Vince Vaughan steals every scene he's in IMO. He's really getting a chance to show how will he can act and is impressive.
