There's a different attitude about it down there - starting with the fact that it's not illegal. If you go, I'd recommend a more refined experience by having an escort come to your hotel or a garage motel. Most of the casas de citas were dives, although inexpensive - and could be frightening for an inexperienced foreigner. They were never as good or as nice as their websites portrayed them to be.
