You know what's interesting? Religious nuts and conspiracy theorists are two sides of the same fucking coin. They both cling to something out of the same desperate need. They can't accept the random nature of the universe. They can't accept that things just happen. That you can live your entire life as a good person, do the right thing and end up having something tragic happen to you, while a piece of shit down the street fucks his life up flattered than hammered shit and lives to 106.
They both need a sense of justice that the universe does not give them. In the case of the religious, they invent a sky daddy that's watching over them. The people who have terrible things happen to them go to heaven, where they see their friends and family again and everything is hunky dory.
The conspiracy theorists also need to explain away this random nature, so they invent stories to explain how terrible things happen. It couldn't just be randomness, it must be an orchestrated effort by humans. It's no different than ancient peoples seeing unexplained shit and making up gods to explain them.
Two people died today, possibly a third if the woman who was being interviewed doesn't make it. To try and invent some elaborate story about why it happened is to denigrate their memory. It was a terrible thing that happened and most of the time, there's no explanation as to why. As bad as we might want one.
