So how does that work exactly? I assume the armed perp walks up to the establishment intent on murder, see's the gun free zone sign and leaves for fear of "breaking the law" and getting in trouble?

However, in my example, the guy wants to get into the strip club and leaves his gun in his vehicle, not planning to need it. Had he brought it in undetected, we would probably have had another homicide in a gun free zone and the right wingers would say "See, another gun free zone did not work".
My office building is a gun free zone. If a worker wants to risk losing a rather high-paying job by carrying his/her handgun into the building, that is their choice. How would you like to have to fire someone who you consider to be a little off-center mentally and might be carrying a handgun?
