So, of the providers I know in Pgh, perhaps 5 or 6 have any kind of either financial literacy or, in the time I've known them, have had the trappings of what I will call a "normal financial existence" the entire time (home of their own, car of their own, not out begging for cash, etc). When you've got to ask people for gas money whilst allegedly making hundreds of bucks an hour, there is either a problem on the demand side or a problem on the spending side (or both). With a few notable exceptions, I'll also throw gas on the flame fire and suggest that a lot of the best providers I've seen don't do it as their sole/primary source of income (and I don't mean in lieu of inane social media bullshit, I mean alongside a real job or investment income or alimony). I've also found that the providers who play it that way don't have to advertise daily, pop threADs, and have enough regulars to operate from a solid base of business regardless of shit like ECCIE (or now Indys, as of today) making advertising harder than it used to be.
