Social Media and Messaging platforms in general are ripe for abuse by malicious actors because they don't force things like multi-factor authentication by default. It's gotten a modicum better with types like facebook wanting to make sure you're a real person, so it's hard to feed them bullshit data, but they're more doing because they're looking to sell your info, not for safety implications.

I see the biggest problem in being that way too many people don't even bother to read the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) on those platforms and apps. Plus, most just somehow assume that those providers are beholding to rules that they simply assume must exist. ProTip: They don't. Don't even get me started on Cookies.
