Israel Bombs Iranian Nuclear Sites!

I don’t think anybody saw this coming. Or at least nobody is admitting to it.

Israel intelligence says that Iran was within a month of having enough fissionable material to make several atomic bombs.

The strikes also took out Iran’s top defense minister and ballistic missal sites.

Secretary State Marco Rubio stated that the US is not involved in this operation, although President Trump stated again today that under no circumstances would Iran be allowed to become a nuclear power.

I believe things are getting ready to get really bad.

Israel strikes dozens of targets in Iran, including nuclear program: IDF

https://www.yahoo.com/news/israel-co...151639544.html

Israel said it has launched a series of strikes against Iran that included dozens of military targets, including the country's nuclear program, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The IDF said the operation, titled "Rising Lion," comes after intelligence identified that Iran has "significantly advanced towards obtaining a nuclear weapon," alleging this capability would allow them to act against Israel.

Israel estimates Iran now has enough enriched material for several nuclear bombs, the IDF and an Israeli official familiar with the operation told ABC News.

Defense Minister Israel Katz described the strikes as "preemptive" and declared a state of emergency.

"Following the State of Israel's preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future," Katz said in a statement.

Air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv following the announcement.

U.S. was not involved in Israel's strikes, officials say

The U.S. did not provide any assistance or have any involvement in the Israeli strike, two U.S. officials told ABC News.

Sec. of State Marco Rubio released a statement following the strike, saying, "Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region."

Rubio said the U.S. was advised by Israel that "they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense."

"President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel," Rubio said.

Why Israel says they preemptively attacked Iran

In a video message on Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country had no choice but to stage a preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear program.

"In recent months, Iran has taken steps that it has never taken before, steps to weaponize this enriched uranium, and if not stopped, Iran could produce a nuclear weapon in a very short time," he said. "It could be a year. It could be within a few months, less than a year. This is a clear and present danger to Israel's very survival," he said.

The strikes come as the U.S. has planned nuclear talks with Iranian officials this weekend.

Before the strike, President Donald Trump spoke of the negotiations on Thursday, saying in a social media post, "We remain committed to a Diplomatic Resolution to the Iran Nuclear Issue! My entire Administration has been directed to negotiate with Iran. They could be a Great Country, but they first must completely give up hopes of obtaining a Nuclear Weapon."

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Thursday, before the strike, his country will continue to enrich uranium and vowed to rebuild facilities should they be destroyed, as tensions in the Middle East have escalated.

"We will go our own way, and we will have the enrichment," Pezeshkian said during remarks in Ilam, a western province of Iran.

"We will build this country with these very young people. It's not like if, for example, someone bombs our place, that's the end of it. All this is in mind. Whatever they do, we will rebuild," Pezeshkian added.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was asked about the possible military action during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday.

"What I know is that Bibi Netanyahu is going to put his country first, and we're going to put our country first, and we're positioned properly in the region ... for any potential contingency," Hegseth said of Israel's prime minister.

Hegseth added that the U.S. and President Donald Trump remain "committed to creating the conditions for peace."

Rumors and discussions of this possibility have been around for some time.

Many reports indicate it is Trump's weakness in dealing with Iran and the agreements he has made or proposed have caused Israel to go ahead and act unilaterally.

"Israel is considering launching a military strike against Iran in the coming days without American support, according to Western officials. The officials said fears of either no deal or a weak deal between Donald Trump, the US president, and the Islamic Republic to curtail its nuclear programme had forced Israeli strategists to consider a unilateral attack against Tehran."

"Military and intelligence chiefs have been concerned for several months that Mr Trump might strike a “soft” deal with Iran that does not guarantee the Jewish state’s long-term security in order to establish his legacy as a peacemaker."

The post of the OP reflects that things are getting ready to get "really bad".

Most of the blame for this is on Trump's shoulders, for yet another blunder.

The 2nd post is just a copy and paste, with nothing added.

still think Obama had Iran not building nuclear material under his deal?

this is all Obama's fault.

Completely incorrect. Trump failed on this issue during his first term.

He has blundered again in his 2nd term.

Israel does not make a decision to act unilaterally lightly. Think about that.

Trump has no leadership capabilities at all.

this is a quote from your link. so your link trying to blame Trump is incorrect because it was always Obama's fault.

and it was always going to be on Israel to protect itself with action not Trump.

If you can't see Israel went ahead and acted unilaterally (without the US), you have no clue.

Trump has no leadership skills.

Ridiculous. It sounds like you no nothing about the US relationship with Israel.

If you are trying to connect a unilateral action by Israel back to 2016, good luck explaining that.

We will wait.

Especially as Trump already had 4 years to correct any issues and failed.

Trump has pretty much taken the US out of the peacemaking process.

And has failed miserably at the deal making process. Again.

If you think he’s been consulted on this, think again. Informed, maybe, but nobody wants him at the table. He shits the bed every time he climbs into it. Other nations dealing with real problems (not bullshit trade deals, pardoning cronies and renaming army bases) don’t have time or patience for that ass clown and are acting in their best interests.

It is only Trump that could have managed to have our friend and ally Israel act unilaterally. Just another demonstration of his inabilities.

Now we can speculate if things are going to get "really bad", per the OP
Amazing how a military strike by one of our Allies against a sworn enemy turns into Trump Derangement Rants.
President Trump gave Iran every opportunity to cease their nuclear weapons program. He even reiterated yesterday that under no circumstance would Iran be allowed to have enough fissionable nuclear material build even on bomb. He practically begged Iran to make a deal and comply.

The President warned them yesterday.

They would not budge. The green light was given.

One important note. Israel is not just taking out infrastructure. They also took out a multitude of Iran’s top top Nuclear scientist, plus some key revolutionary guard leaders.

The message is. “If you wish to work in aiding Iran to become a Nuclear power, you might die”.

This morning, there are continuing strikes. The Government is reporting this morning that this will continue until Iran’s nuclear capability is completely destroyed.

The enrichment process that Iran was using was stopped. With Trump canceling the deal in 2018, Iran could start the enrichment process again and get enough fissionable material (U-235 the radioactive isotope of Uranium) to make several atomic bombs. According to Israel, sure enough that is what Iran did. If Trump had not canceled the deal Iran would not be in position to make an atomic bomb for another ten years, 2034.

This is very much a "They need to sort it out" thing. Israel is an ally, not a subject state. They don't need our permission to act in the interest of their country and part of the world. I'd like to not get into another war any time soon. In no way has any of the previous administrations "i said don't do that" caused Iran to stop their programs. Period. Not sanctions and not that bullshit deal in 2014 that Big O was part of.
