Common sense and decency prevails. What a great way to end 'pride' month.
He changed the name of a ship from a fucking pillowbiter to the name of a medal of honor winner.

He said something like "now we are removing politics from the naming of Navy ships"He’s not making anything up. I’m convinced he’s a warrior and doesn’t want a fags name on a warship.

Whatta fucking joke.
This is nothing but politics.
Well...I suppose what it REALLY is...is playing to his fucking boss and his made-up culture war horseshit....
But it is still political. In the very worst sense.

Do you really think it’s a good idea to disparage such a large percentage of our population?

In a health survey released this week by the RAND Corporation, 6.1 percent of people in the U.S. military self-identified as LGBT . It’s the first ever direct estimate of the military’s LGBT population, even though LGB people, at least, have been allowed to serve openly for seven whole years.

The demographics of sexual orientation and gender identity in the United States have been studied in the social sciences in recent decades. A 2025 Gallup poll concluded that 9.3% of adult Americans identified as LGBTQ+. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

This isn’t just about Harvey Milk. The fact is that they are going to be renaming other vessels named after other civil rights leaders. What it comes down to is the fact that they think it’s ok to disrespect large swaths of the public because they think that they are not worthy of respect.

The documents obtained by CBS News also show other vessels named after prominent leaders are also on the Navy's renaming "recommended list."
Among them are the USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Dolores Huerta, USNS Lucy Stone, USNS Cesar Chavez and USNS Medgar Evers.
CBS News found that a December 2024 web article from Naval Sea Systems Command about the laying of the keel for the future USNS Thurgood Marshall has been deleted.
P.S. From some of the homophobic comments in this thread I can say for certain that it is about his being gay. Originally Posted by txdot-guy
