Yes, OUR cash. trump's tariffs are a tax on the American people. Period. He has you thinking that somehow that's not the case. He also loves the poorly educated. Originally Posted by tommy156

Trump is right, tariffs by other nations have been one-sided and biased against the US for decades. it's a topic that has been discussed for decades by both parties and because Trump is actually doing something about it, it's wrong?
nonsense.
if you have to pay 25 cents more for a coffee at MickyD's to open up more exports by the US and help US business compete explain why that's a bad thing. Originally Posted by The_Waco_Kid

The problem is not the tariffs in general but the misguided belief that somehow we’re going to have some kind of manufacturing revolution that will bring us back to the eighties. I’m sorry but labor costs overseas are so low that the US will never be able to match them. And placing tariffs on the raw materials and sub components we need to produce the goods we already manufacture doesn’t make sense either.
The tariffs we get from the Trump administration will do nothing but degrade the buying power of average Americans. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

Those BILLIONS monthly you are referring to are not being paid by the seller. They are being paid by the consumer. In this case the consumer is American business owners and the people they sell their products to.

The only real way to adjust our trade imbalance with other countries is to devalue the dollar and I’m not a big fan of making America poorer on the world stage. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

[B Trump’s tariffs are bringing in tens of billions of dollars a month. What’s the government doing with all that money?[/B]

Hardly a day goes by without President Donald Trump boasting about the record tariff revenue the US government has been collecting since he ratcheted up taxes on almost every imported good.
“We have a lot of money coming in, much more money than the country’s ever seen,” Trump said over the weekend, referring to tariff revenue.
Trump’s right: The US government collected nearly $30 billion in tariff revenue last month, according to the Treasury Department. That’s a 242% jump in tariff revenue compared to last July.
Since April, when the president began imposing a 10% tariff across nearly all goods, among several other steeper levies that followed, the government collected a total of $100 billion in tariff revenue, three times the amount collected during the same four months last year.
explain how this hurts America and the US consumer?
good luck with that Originally Posted by The_Waco_Kid

Answer that question please and you will know who it’s hurting. Originally Posted by txdot-guy
