Originally Posted by TinManWild, Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle admittingly was a hard album for me to get into when I started my Springsteen fandom, and it wasn't until I got to the adult side of high school before I could appreciate it, but it does have some of my favorite songs by him on there. The problem with those albums were that they were recorded in a crappy studio by a crappy engineer and producer who saw him as a Dylan type folkie. Which he wasn't, never was, and didn't want to be. But I love Greetings from the first listen and love it to this day. That version (the original) of Blinded By The Light is a great contrast to the Manfred Mann cover. Just wish we can go back in time and tell him to hire Glyn Johns or someone like that. Those guys just didn't know how to record him.
