Big "brother" is watching (and listening)

Visit a place recently and the provider reveals a bit of info.
Was told the owner look at the security cam regularly, and can also hear conversations (in the hallway).

While I am not against the use of security cameras, I don't feel comfortable being noticed or recognized. I think it's time to take a pause at this locale and move on to other pastures. Wish i knew which other places is under the same umbrella corporation.

Might help if you named the place

I hate to break it to you bud, most of the cameras these spas use now have microphones and in same cases speakers for 2 way communication. It is VERY common, just like your ring camera notifications, that someone on the other side is monitoring every time there is “movement in the hallway”, etc. This is partially for security and partially to monitor the staffs behaviors. If there is a problem that needs immediate response, the person(s) monitoring, can respond promptly.

Good news is most of them only pay for minimal subscription to monitor and not actually store any videos long term. If you read the papers of Michiko Spa bust. They confiscated 3 DVR boxes full of possible goodies. I much prefer the WiFi cameras over DVRs of old.

Happy Hobbying!!

There’s a place I visit frequently in Garland and she has an iPad up during L3 showing the hallways, entry, and outside. I think I feel more secure knowing it’s being monitored than not.

OP you’ve been on this board 14 years and you’re just now realizing this? Most places do this. I also feel better if it’s monitored. Also, if mamasan wants to see Big Bob at full mast, it’s cool with me, lol

Yes, some establishments even have them in specific rooms. For "safety" is what I was told. I happened to be there late and went to the back room for drinks & catch up with the ladies at the end of night and i noticed the feed.

I have seen every iteration of monitoring from monitors in rooms, in a back room, on iPads/computers and even the notifications like your ring cameras on their phones while at store, home, shopping, and at dinner. They will look every time there is “movement in (section)”. I 100% know this occurs in most spas.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.

lol, who are we kidding. Of course they are watching.
Luxury spa had LE cams watching from empty space across from them.
Michiko had outside inside cams.
Cortland apt and Lago Vista complex has empty vehicles that record things.
