Yes, apparently mediocrity and woke hiring finally awakened someone from their sleep at Penn State, and they fired their version of Mike Tomlin, AKA, a lesson in how to be good enough to be mediocre.

Seems like taking the number two ranked team and destroying it, has caused the button to be pushed, and at least it didn't take two decades to can Franklins lousy ass, that was ONLY hired because they wanted diversity.

Well, now they have it, a diverse Chancellor who closes local campuses, and then gets a raise.

Luckily, whomever wields the power at the stadium, came to their senses.

Buy Bye James Franklin, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

And put JoePa's Statue back already.

Joe Pa?? Isn't he the guy who looked away while Sandusky did his thing??

Yup
Weren't they ranked #2 three weeks ago going into the Oregon game?
If they could have pulled out that OT game ... everything would have changed!
That UCLA game was a big wake up call!
(Northwestern put the final nail in the coffin!)

why u yinzers want to throw Paterno under the bus is both amusing and false.

Franklin simply proved he could win but not win big enough. somewhat surprising Penn St dumped him early. panic firings never seemed their style.
Joe Pa knew full well what Jerry Sandusky was into!
He turned a blind eye cuz ... Jerry Sandusky won him a national championship in the '87 Fiesta Bowl!
(Jerry Sandusky's defense forced Vinny Testaverde into 5 interceptions!)
" I owe you one!"

there were no allegations going back to 1986. there may have been crimes but none were reported. the late 90's allegation is why Paterno forced Sandusky to retire. Paterno suspected the allegation was true even if the DA declined to prosecute.

it was Penn State not Paterno that granted Sandusky an unusual retirement package that led to the on campus incident that broke the scandal open.

"Upon his retirement, Sandusky was awarded "both an unusual compensation package and a special designation of 'emeritus' rank that carried special privileges, including access to the university's recreational facilities."

Franklin is not a hard enough coach.

Great recruiter, bad coach. I was surprised they canned him in season. But the fan base wanted him gone. Shed no tears for Franklin. He’ll leave with a truckload of cash and will find a new spot to coach.
