Its pretty crazy how these frankly average to barely above average looking Japanese guys (so called "hosts") are practically swindling these lonely young japanese women to the point that some of them are deeply in debt. Its so puzzling to me because you would assume these women could find better looking guys on their dating apps, internet, etc and not have to spend money on a guy for some attention.

I stayed at Hotel Groove in Tokyo in 2023, my first trip to Japan. It is in the heart of Kabukicho. I had no idea it is considered the redlight district. Lots of beautiful young women, and younger women in Cosplay outfits. The travel guides on the Internet advise foreigners not to try to purchase services from prostitutes.
