A-10 Warthogs Are Taking on Iranian Speedboats in the Strait of Hormuz..

one of my favorite planes is the A-10 Warthog. super ugly but super tough. the Air Force was trying to retire them but Congress said no to that, in a smart move, requiring a minimum of 103 kept active. now they are being used to counter Iranian fast attack boats in the Strait of Hormuz. i think that's genius. maybe that will help to reopen the Strait. the lack of planning for closure of the Strait by Iran is killing our pocketbooks.

so i have a couple of questions:
1. should we keep Warthogs active?
2. if so, is this a good use of the Warthogs?
3. if yes, realistically, could deploying a good number of Warthogs there actually lead to the Strait being reopened by force?
4. if not, what will it take militarily to get the Strait of Hormuz open for commercial shipping? Trump seems to be looking for some kind of international coalition to get it done.
5. related question, why doesn't Trump think that the U.S. and Israel could accomplish it alone?

Better get your fill now. Much to the chagrin of tankers and infantry, they’re scheduled to be fully retired by the end of the year.

I’m also wondering why we haven’t opened the straight by force when we absolutely have the spec ops guys to do it, with or without Israelis.

Perhaps there is there a conspiracy with a nefarious intent afoot?

And I thought Trump aggressively defended all “straights.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Seriously, how fucking stupid are we to overlook the one real piece of leverage Iran has?

But I presume that we’re deploying the A-10 Warthog in the region because the mission requires a quick response to Iranian naval boats to keep attacks on shipping to a minimum. That kind of mission requires air power with both the firepower to take out small boats and sea drones as well as the extended airtime needed to loiter in the area so that they can be local to respond as quickly as possible.

I’m not sure the US still has any aircraft capable of that kind of mission anymore except for the A-10 or possibly some low flying drones like the MQ-1 Predator or the MQ-9 Reaper.

Will the A-10 be replaced with AI enabled autonomous drones? It sure seems like it.

^^it's a 100 mile gantlet. a Seal team wouldn't know where to start, i'd think. that's why it's a clusterfuck..

It’s a clusterfuck because stupid motherfuckers are running unchecked and clusterfucking everything up. No other reason. Everything the regime says is a lie or part of a lie or the descendant of a lie. Trump is senile and diapered. And we are seen as the world’s mouthbreathers.

This has to end.

That’s how we did it in Iraq, at least the airports, although it was the 3rd ID not specops. As I stated earlier, shipping might be more complicated but I couldn’t say for sure. Apparently the island they’ve been softening up is vital and the first place that’d need secured but it won’t be easy without destroying the infrastructure.
The island in question has nothing to do with the closure of the Strait. Again, you’re just spouting nonsense.
