Now Trump threatens to destroy Iran power plants unless they stop blocking the Strait.

He gave a deadline to Ukraine and Russia to stop the conflict. He did not say what would happen if the deadline was not met.

Trump appears more and more to make things up as he goes along.

Trump of course retreats from his threats. As usual. He thought this war was a slam dunk - in and out. Since it’s not, he’s looking for a “claim victory and go home”.

Iran still has the enriched uranium at 60% and centrifuges.
They will again ramp up their missile and drone program immediately after the ceasefire, which I suspect will come soon enough.
Iran will still control the Strait even if they reopen it.
The regime in Iran will remain.

Iran says they’ve had no talks with the administration. Trump wouldn’t lie about these productive talks would he. I mean he based a 5 day delay on his threats of destroying Iran based entirely on these conversations. Must be just a misunderstanding on Iran’s part because I’m sure Trump wouldn’t lie.

Bombing power stations deliberately would be war crimes as they are civilian operations. Problem is trump has backed himself into a corner no way out but idle threats. I think I read the only other play he has is to take Kharg Island, but that would require troops landing. Hard to bomb the shit out of the island and expect it to operate like it needs to. 90% of Iran's oil flows through Kharg. Most of its population are 20000 oil workers, so non military. Would have to capture a large part of the population and effectively hold them hostage.

They were discussing this today on the radio and they described it as Trump negotiating with himself. As if it didn’t really matter what the Iranian representatives said but that Trump was going to make a show of things and then chicken out in the end.
