TSA airport security - still no pay ?

The difference is: MAGA, aka Republicans, view "We The People" as citizens, where the Demonicrats view us as subjects. This explains why the Demonicrats are totally willing to let the surfs suffer.

The Dems in Congress, as reported by their lap dog media, are currently seething over the fact that Trump put ICE in to bolster TSA, because many TSA workers had to go work elsewhere to feed their families and pay the rent/mortgage, because they got no pay, then the lines went !poof!

In summary, the Dems were totally and intentionally inflicting suffering on their subjects and Trump the Merciful put ICE on it.

While there are numerous ironies in all of that, the crux of the biscuit is:
Did Trump anticipate using ICE and how long ago did he?

How long has this been since Congress failed to fund the TSA ? There seems to be no
urgency. Other departments of the DHS also not funded ? What is the reason for the hold up ?

Who has been to the airports and experienced the delays ? The news media reports lines
going outside the airport buildings. Originally Posted by VitaMan

TSA, FEMA, and Cybersecurity are among the DHS agencies affected by the DHS funding lapse. ICE, Border Patrol and the Coast Guard are receiving funding through various means, including Trump's signature $170 billion One Big Beautiful Bill.

Democrats want reforms made to the way ICE and Border Patrol operate before they sign off on any future funding for ICE. Unfortunately that funding is for the Department of Homeland Security which ICE resides in.

A letter detailing those reforms was sent to Mike Johnson and John Thune on February 4th. You can read it here.

Right now they are just negotiating over the details.

The full list of requested changes. I don’t see why most of these changes can’t be implemented.

1. Targeted enforcement
DHS officers cannot enter private property without a judicial warrant. End indiscriminate arrests and improve warrant procedures and standards. Require verification that a person is not a US citizen before holding them in immigration detention.

2. No masks
Prohibit ICE and immigration enforcement agents from wearing masks and other face coverings.

3. Require ID
Require DHS officers conducting immigration enforcement to display their agency, unique ID number and last name. Require them to verbalize their ID number and last name if asked.

4. Protect sensitive locations
Prohibit funds from being used to conduct enforcement near sensitive locations, including medical facilities, schools, childcare facilities, churches, polling places, courts, etc.

5. Stop racial profiling
Prohibit DHS officers from conducting stops, questioning and searches based on an individual’s presence at certain locations, their job, their spoken language and accent, or their race or ethnicity.

6. Uphold use-of-force standards
Place into law a reasonable use-of-force policy, expand training and require certification of officers. In the case of an incident, the officer must be removed from the field until an investigation is concluded.

7. Ensure state and local coordination and oversight
Preserve the ability of state and local jurisdictions to investigate and prosecute potential crimes and use-of-excessive-force incidents. Require that evidence is preserved and shared with jurisdictions. Require the consent of states and localities to conduct large-scale operations outside of targeted immigration enforcement.

8. Build safeguards into the system
Make clear that all buildings where people are detained must abide by the same basic detention standards that require immediate access to a person’s attorney to prevent citizen arrests or detention. Allow states to sue the DHS for violations of all requirements. Prohibit limitations on member visits to ICE facilities regardless of how those facilities are funded.

9. Body cameras for accountability, not tracking
Require use of body-worn cameras when interacting with the public and mandate requirements for the storage and access of footage. Prohibit tracking, creating or maintaining databases of individuals participating in first amendment activities.

10. No paramilitary police
Regulate and standardize the type of uniforms and equipment DHS officers employ during enforcement operations to bring them in line with civil enforcement.

Senators at last agreed via voice vote early Friday morning to approve a funding package that funds the Department of Homeland Security besides Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and part of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) -- a critical step toward ending most of the 42-day long DHS shutdown.

Agencies that would be funded by the Senate's approved package include TSA, FEMA, The Coast Guard and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

The bill will now head to the House where it will need to be approved. If passed, it will then head to the desk of President Donald Trump, who would need to sign it for it to become law.

House Speaker Mike Johnson was noncommittal on next steps on the funding bill, telling reporters on Friday morning: "Stay tuned."

Spoke too soon. The house has rejected the senate compromise bill.

House Republicans on Friday rejected a Senate-passed deal to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, threatening to extend the agency shutdown that has crippled airports in a fit of outrage over the agreement their own party struck with Senate Democrats to end the crisis.

After quickly assessing the compromise that passed the Senate early Friday, conservative House Republicans tore into it in harsh terms. They derided it for hewing too closely to the Democratic position by omitting money for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol, the two agencies responsible for carrying out President Trump’s immigration crackdown.

“House Republicans are not going to be any part of any effort to reopen our borders or to stop immigration enforcement,” Speaker Mike Johnson said at a news conference on Friday afternoon. “This gambit that was done last night is a joke."

Calling the Senate-passed deal engineered by Senator John Thune, Republican of South Dakota and the majority leader, “ridiculousness,” Mr. Johnson said the House would instead take up a stopgap measure to fund the entire department until late May.

Me, on the other hand, think DHS should take a page out of the BLM-Antifa playbook and deport the illegal aliens by any means necessary, seeing whereas they are aliens here illegally.

I think that wearing masks to help you get away with criminal behavior is what criminals do.

Suffice it to say that for the purposes of this thread Democrats want limits to the way ICE and Border Patrol operate and Republicans under the Trump administration don’t want anyone to tell them how to operate.

That means a continued partial government shutdown until someone caves and takes a deal.

The democrats caved the last time. Let’s see how long this will last.
