legal consequence on solicitation of prostitution

I saw the other post about get stung by DPD, so, I want to share some of my insight on legal consequence.

I was arrested last year. Grand jury indicted me February this year. still working though the legal process.

I did some research on many solicitation of prostitution cases happened last 2 years.
Research Method:
You can pull Excel sheet from DA website (https://www.dallascounty.org/dcpia/captcha). Then, using case number to lookup one by one at court website.(https://courtsportal.dallascounty.org/DALLASPROD)

First, even it is a state felony crime, for first time offender with no prior, you are not going to serve jail time. I guess it is because HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE CHAPTER 169 have a requirement of no adversarial approach (https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/?...HS.169&artSec=)
Exception: if it is involve minor, then, this could be a different game.

Here are two kinds of results:

Good : dismissal or conditional dismissal. you take JOHN class(https://newlifeopportunities.org/stop-class/) , DA drop your case. You Criminal record can be expunged. You background will be completely clean.

Bad: deferred adjudication with class A misdemeanor. you got probation period from 6 month to 2 years. After you complete the probation , your case get dropped.
DA sell this to you like "dismissal", but it is not, it is a conviction. So, you can only seal your criminal record, but not expunge it. So certain authorities can still see it.

Trend:
In 2024, around 25% case will get dismissal or conditional dismissal.

In 2025, district attorney somehow get harsher, So far, I only saw 2 cases get dropped so far, among 100+ arrest.

Personal thought: Right now, If I saw some good job opportunities at market, I cannot apply for it, because, I will never pass background check with pending felony charge.
If you saw this, I hope you learn from my mistake and think about consequence before take action.

You just caused some nausea and blood pressure spike. Point well taken and even if u take the John class still a beatvdiwn with attorney fees and some employers knowing about the arrest. Was this a sting off LC or Rubrankings random ad?
Thank you very much for sharing. It can't be easy to come out and admit to this. What a nightmare! I have a few questions if you don't mind...

1) Just curious how long it takes from arrest to GJ indictment. Around when did you get busted last year?
2) How long did you spend in jail?
3) What site were they running the sting op, and were you suspicious of the ad?
4) Was the ad sophisticated at all? Meaning were they using actual known ladies photos and profiles, and posting their sting numbers.
5) Did you go to a hotel?
6) Looking back now, were there any tell-tale signs that you ignored?
7) Did they nab a bunch of other dudes during the sting op? And if so where did they keep all of them?
8) Did you invoke your 5th after the arrest? Did they go through your phone to match your text correspondence with the decoy?
9) What evidence do they have on you? So like, other than you showing up, do they have you and the decoy agreeing on an activity and dollar amount in text and/or in person?
10) Is your mug shot plastered online and shared on those FB groups and stuff?
11) I guess since the DA indicted you, the state believes they can successfully prosecute? And does that mean dismissal and or offer of deferred adjudication is off the table for you at this point?
12) Are you going to fight the case? Take a plea deal?
13) Will you have to register as a sex-offender?
14) How much longer do you expect all this to go on for until a resolution?

*feel free to skip any questions that you feel may out you or is too invasive. Thanks a bunch.

Thank you for sharing. This is significantly more information than we had previously. And that’s why I’m retired from the hobby. I wish you best of luck and hope you can navigate quickly to get some closure and move on with your life.

How long did it take for this case to go before the grand jury?

Here is something else important to know.

Lets say you beat the charge. Great! No conviction on your record.

Make SURE you go through the steps to have your arrest record expunged. Particularly if you are in a field with any kind of security clearance.

I was arrested 15 years ago. Any time I apply for a position with a slightly elevated clearance-- my FBI record pops up. I was arrested for "massage without a license" according to my arresting officers AND the judge that eventually dismissed the case. However-- according to my FBI file, I was arrested for "Commercialization of Sex". That's a hard one to explain, even with the charges getting dismissed.

Is it just me or does the recent trend of busted/sting topics seem to be an agenda like when the bareback post start trending.

I will say it again, and someone will get angry because “not everyone can afford it or has circumstances that allow it” but I will put my two cents in: just save the money you are going to spend on unvetted listings here in the U.S. (or even with reputable providers) and use that money to hobby in a country where it is legal or tolerated.

What you will spend on two or three visits to an LC Latina provider will cover your airfare to Mexico or Canada, depending on when you plan your trip. The currency is not as strong as the U.S. dollar and you will get more bang for your buck elsewhere than the U.S.

Do your research on where you want to hobby outside the U.S., some places it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. No screening, no questions asked. Incredibly rare to get caught up in some sort of predicament hobbying overseas as opposed to rolling the dice in the U.S.

Of course, maybe not everyone can do this. Hard time explaining to the wife why you have to go to Japan or Australia or Mexico or Germany. I get it. However, if you want to indulge in this hobby with the lowest risk possible, then go where the hobby is much more tolerable.

For a lot of guys, the issue is cost. Just save the money, and you won’t be rolling the dice on your mugshot being posted by Dallas PD (like they just posted yesterday. 20 or so unfortunate mongers got posted).

OP, sorry this happened to you. Hope everything works out for the best. To the others, think about whether you want to be in that situation, and evaluate what the best course of action is. Some say well-reviewed providers only. I agree with that, but I still think there is more risk involved than anonymously walking into a Guadalajara estetica and getting good service there.

This hobby takes research and planning if you want to be safe. This isn’t the 1980s where you can go to the jack shack out in the sticks and part of your donation covers the Sheriff office’s retirement fund.

Don Draper said it best: limit your exposure.
