Should Trump bear all the blame ? Apparently he didn't consult our Allies before starting this course of action. His advisors should have known the potential problem with the Strait, and oil blockage. Many countries have gone to using their oil reserves and most only have a 30 day emergency supply.

that's what happens when a decision-maker is surrounded by a bunch of yes men. half the people in this forum knew what a lousy idea it was to attack Iran, and the effect it would have on oil prices. i said exactly that, among other folks.

I’m confused. You’re afraid the world’s going to fry because of all the carbon emissions. Well if you really want to go to net zero, you’re going to need oil, gas and coal prices a hell of a lot higher than they are now. What kind of jet fuel price is it going to take to get you to save the planet instead of flying? $20 a gallon? $40?

Seriously, if you want to see more renewables, and you want the market to make that happen instead of dumb ass politicians, Trump’s Big Middle East Adventure is a gift from God. Hypothetically if you can replace Qatar LNG with wind, solar and nuclear your energy supply will be more secure. Unfortunately solar and wind can’t provide reliable base load supply. But the current situation with the Strait of Hormuz will encourage more investment in battery technology (to store wind and solar power) along with other alternatives to Middle East energy

Right on the money. This war of Trump’s choosing will be a catalyst for many countries to invest in renewable technologies. Something that the Chinese government has been working to dominate for a while now.

i'm 100% in favor of renewables, but if i had my druthers, this is not exactly the way i would have gone about it..

Trump is pure chaos and poor planning. JD Vance should have done a better job of laying out the downsides of attacking Iran, as i suspect he is least in favor of the war among Trump's senior advisers.

Vance is an imbecile and would have fucked this up with the same level of expertise as his master.

Fact is, nobody in the Trump administration is qualified to wage war. And none have been granted approval to do so.

The only thing good that possibly comes from this is regime change… in the US.

EX: China around 45+% and Pakistan around 80% dependant.

I saw a recent headline pointing out that the US, with a little help from Venezuela - ATM (more coming), plus Russia combined is about equivalent to all oil in the gulf.

Trump stopped the true source of evil in the world for the last 50 years and stopped them from getting a nuclear weapon and the ability to shut off oil supplies when that evil had a nuclear weapon to hold the whole world hostage with two weapons.

BTW, I've read that other countries in the gulf are getting ready to build pipelines to make it so oil will flow without going through the Strait of Hormuz.

it does, but to capture that value, there has to be a net shift from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources. if folks get fed up with high gas prices and go out and buy fully electric vehicles, that has a net benefit for the planet.

but this could have been accomplished through a rational plan without so much short-term pain, which is why i'm not celebrating high gas prices, but who knows, maybe this Strait fuckery will actually produce a net planetary benefit. one can only hope.

Maybe there will be a net shift to Nuclear Power.

I would like to see a multinational effort to develop fuel cell technology.

Research on fusion power on the scale of The Manhattan Project would could save the globe as well.
