Lieutenant,
Did you miss the part about DDOS attacks?
It's a war zone on the internet.
A few of the banks I do business with have doubled their budgets for IT staff for network and fraud control issues.
And my outfit has spent significantly to upgrade our hotel systems which include credit card processing. We have had DDOS attacks as well from a-holes trying to scrape client credit card numbers and data.

This site - is it on a shared server or stand alone bare metal?
Who is the hostinc company?
What provisions if any do they offer for protection against DDOS & other attacks?
I ask because a DDOS should be handled at their firewall level, with whatever leaking over is handled by the site firewall.
If they are overwhelmed to the point what spills over is taking down this site or causing it to not meet the 5 nine's then something ELSE is going on.
I am wondering if this site and the other site are not hosted at the same data center in the same IP block (can research that later)
