These polls take a scientifically selected sample of either registered or likely voters from areas around the country, usually with a sample size of around 1000 participants. There are demographic questions asked at first for age, gender, income and then the political demographics, including "are you registered to vote", "how likely are you to vote in the next election" and "are you registered as a Republican, Democrat or Independent" in order to ensure that the sample selects an appropriate representation of the party affiliation. If that was directed to me, I was opposed to the Iraq war. And Afghanistan, and Kosovo, and Viet Nam. But before you get the wrong idea, my respect for our servicemen and women is exceeded by no other, and I always take the opportunity to thank active service members and veterans when I get the chance. Especially the Viet Nam vets. They were treated very poorly upon their return, and the war was not their fault. Their bravery and commitment is an example to us all.
