"If the US Government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year, they spend $75,000 a year, & are $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget & debt, reduced to a level we can understand." - Dave Ramsey Originally Posted by BigLouieDave Ramsey sould add the the government can give itself a raise.....yet the very rich do not want the government to give itself a raise and help pay for all the things the very rich want and bought. The government presently has a surplus in SS and Medicare.
So what Dave Ramsey is saying in a round abot way that the rich do not want to pay for their military toys. Originally Posted by WTF

Get rid of a lot of government regulations. Let companies grow. The faster companies can grow, the more people it will employee and the more taxes the government can bring in.
Put a cap on the price of gasoline of $2.75 a gallon.
We got our selves into this mess, everyone needs to contribute to get out of this mess. Originally Posted by Squirrel88

My thoughts are this... (not in any particular order)Some very interesting (and popular) points.
Get our troops out of Iraq, Afghanistan and quit bombing Libya. Stop trying to play police of the world. Quit propping up NATO and the UN. People don't hate us because we are good and wholesome, they hate us because we are f*cking things up by being in their countries killing their people.
Stop giving money to and supporting most other countries. Especially the ones that hate us.
Cut back on entitlement spending or put in place, if your not retired or have a severe heath problem, your going to now be working for the federal government doing something. You get money from the government, you need to be contributing something back. Even if its 10 hours a week. Put a time limit on the welfare. JFK said it very well, "Do not ask what the country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
Everyone in the house and senate including the president needs to take a 10% pay cut.

Put a cap on the price of gasoline of $2.50 a gallon. When prices go above this, the poor & middle class stop buying other things, just to pay for gas.
Put in place more "Right to Work States". Unions are killing us globally. When it costs $500 for something here due to a Union and $400 to buy it in another country and have it shipped here. What are you going to think companies will do?
TORT reform and get rid of Obama care. Make it to where it cost less to practice medicain. There is a time and a place for national health care. When the government goes back into the black and can afford it, then pass it.

Fully Agree
Stop giving money to and supporting most other countries. Especially the ones that hate us.
Agree

I would support this
Everyone in the house and senate including the president needs to take a 10% pay cut.
Hmmm not sure that would make much a difference so I am neutral on this
Raise taxes on the wealthy, middle class and poor. My thoughts? a flat tax.
YES I FULLY SUPPORT A FLAT TAX, just get rid of the IRS and implement a flat sales tax to consumer goods, that way everyone pays taxes including criminals.
Get rid of a lot of government regulations. Let companies grow. The faster companies can grow, the more people it will employee and the more taxes the government can bring in.
Hmm partially agree, there are some regulations that are good.

Disagree, put a cap on the gasoline tax but I do not believe the government should regulate the price of gas to that extreme, if the barrel of crude goes up, how can the givernment regulate the price of gas?

I am on the fence on this, but in principle I agree with the approach
We got our selves into this mess, everyone needs to contribute to get out of this mess.
We did not get ourselves into this mess, stupid government programs and politicians did. but I agree we cannot expect the clowns to get us out of it and we have to contribute. Originally Posted by Squirrel88

Texas ranks 46th in income disparity -- Of the all the jobs in Texas created last year, 37 percent paid at or below minimum wage -- and the state leads the nation in total minimum wage workers, according to a recent New York Times report. Originally Posted by BigLouie
