If it is so clear cut, why don't the execs face congress and say so? Pleeding the 5th is a cowards way out and usually means the person is guilty of something.

On the surface, it does seem like a reprehensible response from Solyndra, but considering the political motivations behind congressional hearings like this, I'm not sure that it is particularly ill-advised to plead the 5th regardless of the veracity or character of those involved.
Considering that private investors had vested a billion dollars for Solyndra and that those investors had bipartisan interests, or considering that this is the only outstanding issue for the DOE, I doubt that there is really any true scandal or glaring ineptness on the part of either administration. I'm sure there is something to be learned but we'll see what happens.
