Our original justification for going into Afghanistan was because it provided a sancturay for alQueda's attack on the US. Okay, fair enough. However, given the history of Afghanistan, the mission quickly became nation-building. We have never been good at nation-building, especially when the culture is so totally foreign to anything we understand. We have a terrible quandary. If (when) we leave, the country will fall back under Taliban control, and once again be a sanctuary for whoever wants to attack the US. On the other hand, staying costs more US lives and money. I do not think we can be successful in our nation-building effort, so I suggest we get our sooner rather than later.

It will fall back under the control of the Taliban regardless of how long we stay.
