Didn't have my hands out when I was drafted & served for 2 years. We were spat upon & ridiculed back then. It's about time ALL veterans receive the recognition they deserve.
You're just JEALOUS that you're not receiving anything free on Veterans Day, & you have to use your plastic again.

I also, living for a time near Fort Drum, and attending an ROTC school, have witnessed the absolutely atrocious behavior young cadets can succumb to. They create a lot of unwed mothers (by desertion), and are great fodder for truck repossession. Plus I've read the Red Badge of Courage. So it isn't clear cut who is of actual merit. When I was of age, I'd have had to be drafted, it wasn't as popular to sign up as it is now. If I were turning 18 today I think I'd sign up but that's a tough thing to know.
I recently had an ugly exchange with a member about this, and that's unfortunate, but some of these guys get a little excessive, and I'm confident that was the case. If that seems like jealousy over pancakes, so be it. I'm pretty sure on Tuesday I'll eat at home. Or I'll pay, as I do believe a decent American should. Does anyone think it is the restaurant that pays to let vets eat free? Nope, it's the other patrons. Which isn't so bad, just a little offsetting to think about how many guys who aren't in need who will take advantage. More power.
I also tend to think of holidays as cheesy bullshit in general. More power to ya's!
