So, Reading DOZENS of examples and nothing seems to fall on what i did. Since no time money or place has been discussed, there's zero intent and what i did online is "dirty talking" at worst and the 5-0 would have their hands full if they tried tracking that down. The online sting is to draw you out, catch you in the act. lewd discussions online are not illegal.

I agree, they are more than likely not going to do anything to you since you did not meet the girl. And even asking her if she does Greek can be considered just dirty talk, but don't think if they have a hair up their butts, a lot of free time, hugh budget, etc., that they wouldn't arrest you and let the judge decide because you CALLED a prostitute and talked dirty, and who knows, that might be all that is needed.

From what I've read here, it sounds like the cops frequently work with the Feds and the more arrests they get, doesn't matter about the convictions, the more money they get for their budget. The chances of you getting arrested for what you did is probably less then you getting struck by lightening twice, winning the Powerball jackpot, and winning the Mega Jackpot lotteries, all at the same time. But there is that chance none the less.

I at least admit that I am not a lawyer and that all I have said is considered hearsay because it was just from what I have read here on eccie and those people that say they are a lawyer might not be. The only way to get a real answer is to contact a real verified lawyer in real life.

Just never underestimate what the cops can and can't do and what they will do to get more money into their budget and waste taxpayer money to keep us from having fun instead of chasing down murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc. Remember, they do need something, but they can arrest you for winking at a prostitute (exaggeration), it is the Prosecuting attorney that needs to make the charge stick. Not sure, maybe they get so much for an arrest and more for a conviction, I don't know. Maybe they are able to use the money to help chase down those real criminals.

When I was young, I was arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and looking like someone else that did commit a crime. Charges were dropped, but I was still hauled in.

yeah, i never even called her. All my communications were via texts or emails. If it came down to it, she was also on the dating section of BP. It could be construed as dirty talk and flirtation.

Also, if i understand the legality of an escort, $ is just for time spent. You can discuss sex and sex acts with them as long as you're not implying if A then B.... i thought the gray area is A for time and if you're lucky then B. hoping i am safe as $ seems to be the KEY.

Sweeet jesse custer.

this is what i am seeing:

Solicitation occurs whenever a person uses words, actions, or any type of conduct in an attempt to engage in an act of prostitution. The law does not require you to actually engage in the intended conduct, and anyone who simply offers to engage in sex for money -- or any other kind of compensation -- has committed solicitation of prostitution. However, the solicitation actions must go beyond simple displays, availability, or common communications. You must openly seek to engage in prostitution in order to be convicted of solicitation of prostitution. Solicitation can also mean any overt attempt to entice or induce another person to commit prostitution.

Like i said, money never mentioned. Originally Posted by zurgo

yeah, everything i am reading is saying what theyd need to make an arrest. Dirty talk is not soliciting until cash #s come into play.

Yeah, maybe they have to prove that you knew, I don't know. And BTW, if you think the donut squad isn't on here, you are 99.999999% probably mistaken. LOL. So, you just admitted that you knew she had an escort ad, so saying that you only saw the dating ad won't fly any more. That is if they can connect the dots in real life.

Best answer from me really is,
1. Be cautious
2. Be paranoid
3. Never assume shit when it comes to legal issues if you aren't a lawyer, and even if you are.
4. Never assume they have to actually have evidence to arrest you (because they don't, just suspicion, at least that's what they said on tv's CSI)
5. Always do your research
6. Don't see someone you can't confirm is legitimate and still follow directions 1-5 above
7. Assume that life could be a dream and I am your nightmare
8. For real legal advice stop listening to me and talk to a real lawyer
9. Be safe and have fun.

Whether I am partially right or not right about anything, I hope I could have at least scared you enough for you to be more cautious.

So, i panicked.

When i first saw "her" on EscortBusts.com. She was busted, not a buster (bustee) and THAT might not even be the case as the site is apparently made to drum up business for Adultfriendfinder.com

By the looks of it, they have a search engine that grabs the info from back page and makes up those bogus charges. The bad thing is that if a girl has had multiple ads up, to get removed, she has to actually ask for removal of each ad and then next time she posts an ad, it will probably go up there and she has to get it remove too.

The OP has basically asked, I did X. Could it have been a crime?

To determine whether doing X violated the law, one should READ THE LAW. Yet in all the verbiage in this thread, there's not one word about the Texas prostitution statute. There's a definition of 'solicitation,' but it doesn't apply in Texas.

Lawyers (and judges, LE, and juries) take a given fact situation, evaluate the facts in terms of what the law says, then render a conclusion.

I'm tempted to do all your work for you. But why not just READ THE LAW?

'Fundamentals of Texas Prostitution Law'
This thread is now in my top 5 of most idiotic threads ever! Nothing illegal occurred here, period! Both of you really need to get over your paranoia and relax!

fwiw - the OP should immediately click on the link below

http://www.eccie.net/forumdisplay.php?f=24

and post the BP phone number in the Austin alerts forum so others can be forewarned.
Why, because she didn't respond so the OP concluded that it was LE because he couldn't get a grip on himself... He has no proof, conclusive or not, that the person he was contacting was LE. She probably was spooked out by his strange correspondence and deleted her ads
