Writers like George Plimpton, Truman Capote and Isaac Asimov could go there and would get published. And lesser known artists could showcase their work. The "classy editorial", as William F. Buckley put it, had seasoned professional editors.

What was the name of the novel where James Baldwin starts with an orgy scene? In a New York penthouse, I think. Read it once a long time ago.

Maybe one day one of my short Rest of Story reviews could be published as "erotic fiction". I've been told I'm a decent writer. Even had a manager say I was too (brutally) honest about one of the working girls. Far too descriptive. Ha! I was cut off. Oh well.

What Playboy has articles ???????????

Seriously it is not common knowledge but Hef was a civil rights leader and open his door to all races. He even shut down 3 or 4 club franchises who refused entry to black card holders.
