Good looking dude. Age hit him late and fast. Great movies. Someone mentioned his first earlier and I vaguely remember it. Was something we talked about as kids, the lines anyway. So sad.

Not just age, throat cancer caught up to him in 2014 when he was in his 50's.

He was a heavy smoker and not just that, it's been reported he has been smoking for 57 years.

This bank robbery shootout scene from 1995 Michael Mann's Heat is still unsurpassed.

Val Kilmer's firing and reloading has been used as a training video by the USMC

Scene from Heat (1995) starring Val Kilmer, shown to USMC recruits as an example of a proper and rapid reload. Heat was also acknowledged by the Marines in '02 at MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot) San Diego for accurately conveying how to retreat under fire and as the perfect example of how to conduct urban warfare.

Val Kilmer says he had heard that when the moment his character reloads, Marine trainers tell recruits, “If you can’t change a clip as fast as this actor, get out of my army!”

The cast was given weapons and tactics training by former British Special Air Service members Andy McNab https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_McNab and Mick Gould http://mickgould.net/about-mick/ .
