There is a loophole to get around that. Private message me.... Originally Posted by Dnasty

You could file a small claims suit and get a judment against him. ( he probably will not show up for the court date) it is hard to collect on a judment.

Check with the police, see if the sale falls under fraud, maybe you can file a criminal complaint.

Maybe you can work out something with the title lean holder if the cost and what you paid is much less then the real value of the car.

If you can drive it for a year, your getting your $1000.00 back as rental costs. Originally Posted by RGB93

When an attorney tells you you have a good suit ask the attorney to take the case on a % of the recovery. If the attorney doesn't that will tell how good the suit is!!!!

#2. Is correct.

#3: is ridiculous ... "she" should give the money back .. sell it to some other sucker.

#4: you will be asked for paper if you sell it for scrap metal. Originally Posted by LexusLover

Yes, she should haven't given the money back but she didn't have it. I was an idiot.

Like anyone else, I make mistakes. And I learned.

It happens.
I like RGB93's suggestion. But make sure that the person can not escape from paying the ticket even if the person is willing to loose the car. also try to see whether he or she can help you to get a new sticker ( may be difficult if they don't have the insurance. Lesson learned " NEVER BUY A CAR FROM UNKNOWN PERSONS" or insist on transferring the title at the court house before giving the cash. Honey, treat it like an expensive lesson learned. Sorry it had happened to you. It is hard earned money and sure it hurts.

Moved here.....doesn't really seem like a good fit in the iso since it turned into a discussion.

You're only option really is to pay the lien off if you ever want to register it in your name.
do one better.. title in someone else name? cool.. run the toll roads EZ tags often.. run up a HUGE bill.....

One guy in my parking garage has a truck with both tags that expired in 2011 an he drives that thing everyday. My best friend has also had an expired tag on her SUV for over a year and she has never gotten stopped.
