A few thoughts, drive it until the tags run out. Park it where it will be issued parking tickets, which will go to the registered owner. When the tags run out, park it where it will be towed. This will cause a lot of headaces to the registerd owner.And the tags are already out.
You could file a small claims suit and get a judment against him. ( he probably will not show up for the court date) it is hard to collect on a judment.
Check with the police, see if the sale falls under fraud, maybe you can file a criminal complaint.
Maybe you can work out something with the title lean holder if the cost and what you paid is much less then the real value of the car.
