What is wealth to you? What does "rich" mean?

Rich in terms of money is where your money works for you.

To me although I have money I don't have a lot of free time.
I think anyone that has money and is able to use it for themselves like vacations etc. is rich to me.

I can have a billion dollars and if I don't have the time to enjoy it I am not rich.

To me, comfortable is where you can pay your debts each month, put some money into your savings/retirement account, and still have some left over to do some of your hobbies (hah no pun intended).

Wealthy to me is when you have reached comfortable status but have extra money + time on top of that to do all of your hobbies pretty much whenever you want.

In terms of Rich versus Destitute, I've been at both ends.........Destitute is being given an expiration date and Rich proving the bastards wrong about the expiration date. Living life is absolutely priceless......ijs

In terms of assets? Liquid cash? Annual disposable income?

If you think of someone as wealthy, what number does that mean to you?

What number would cause you to think of yourself as rich, or wealthy?

I've known people who make half a million per year who think of themselves as part of the middle class.

I've known folks who made big windfalls (usually inheritance), but quickly spent it all.

I'm looking for more hard numbers than anything, but answer the question in any way you want, of course. Originally Posted by proudoftexas

To me, "Wealth" means the freedome to act.

There is only one definition of wealth - "net worth" (assets less liabilities)
