He Could Run But In the End He Could Not Hide

Unfortunatley his death doesn't really change anything. It's symbolic, he was an icon for those who share his hatered of the USA. There are pleanty of others ready to step in and take up the banner, we need to continue with whatever is necessary to, eliminate the threat to us as a nation. As has been stated it will be a long, hard road, but one which must be contiuned for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

I think it does change things.

He was their leader for almost 30 years. The only real leader they ever had. His loss is catastrophic to al-qaeda. Overall capabilities are diminished, but cells will still operate. I think the changing playing field in the middle east will also play a role. Democracy is coming, the people are more educated. With more education comes resistance to religious demagoguery.

There will always be terrorism. Fear is a natural instinct that some will always try to exploit. The bully on the playground or ObL (aka - gotcha bitch).

One thing to consider when contemplating pulling out is who will fill the void. The last time we did that we got ObL. Think CIA, Afghanistan... I'm just saying.

And one more thing... Good morning Pakistan, how do you feel about your air defenses? Yeah, we just flew two choppers ~120 miles into your country, killed ObL in a neighborhood full of retired Pakistani military officers, and exfiltrated... and you didn't know about it until we called to tell you. To put it politely, umm, suck-it.

Oh, and to all you other sea dogs on this board. I for one am supremely excited that it was The Teams that were given the honor of smoking this fucker. I have had a case of the giggles all damn day.

not trying to stir a shitpot but.....

doesnt anyone remember that osama himself said he had nothing to do with 911?

"I would like to assure the world that I did not plan the recent attacks, which seems to have been planned by people for personal reasons," bin Laden's statement said.

I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle.

remember even the taliban asked the US to provide evidence and they would have gladly turned him over to the usa..
why would he be on tv and radio saying he didnt do it, when like why the hell not if he did? doesnt make sense to me
and the one video where it supposedly shows him confessing was a fake

Sorry man, dig a little deeper.

And surprisingly, the Taliban didn't turn him over after this revelation.

I remember all the knee jerk reactions of what the media was putting out at the time.
I can't remember the time frame but do recall that OBL at first claimed not to be responsible but as time/intelligence (how good the intel was at the time, idk) came on, he recanted his first claims.

bigrich75 & oshins...

That is a topic for its own thread.
Not only was it the Navy who took this sucker down, but the Vice Admiral who planned the strike hails from San Antonio.
