I think that part of the problem was that Tiger tried to keep his personal life and his golf life separate but you really can't. If I had been Elin I'd make sure I was around his tour a lot more than she was. She had to know what kind of temptations are around him. He wins a round or a tournament and she is home, he wants to celebrate and there are any number of women that are willing to help him. It's not like they didn't have the money where she couldn't afford to fly where he was or hire a babysitter. I'm not blaming her. I'm just saying that if I was her I'd have sent a lot more time in his world.
The other thing we tend to do is assume that just because a person can play golf or basketball or what ever that that skill makes them a good human being or that they are skilled in other aspects of their life.
Look at the number of skilled artists and sports people that, while they were very skilled at their trade, were failures in their everyday lives. Van Gogh, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Karen Carpenter, Pete Rose, Mike Tyson to name a few.
Do I few sorry for him, in some ways yes, in some ways no. He let his life get away from him and got his priorities screwed up. Do I feel sorry for her yes. Do I feel sorry for the kids most definitely yes. Both Elin and Tiger thought they could have a story book life and neither figured out that they had to work as hard at it as Tiger did at his golf.
