Trump did not exceed his authority, the law on this is clear. Notification to Congress beforehand on something like this would be a huge mistake, they leak like a 72 Chrysler. If you don’t think democrats would have tipped our hand to the Iranians just to make Trump look bad, likely resulting in the deaths American servicemen, you’re giving them way too much credit.

And saying Democrats would tip off a hostile government just to hurt Trump is a pretty serious claim. That’s not just ‘they leak too much’ — that’s accusing elected officials of effectively helping an enemy and risking American lives. If there’s evidence of that, that would be enormous. If there isn’t, it feels like we’re jumping straight from partisan distrust to assuming half the government would commit treason.
There’s a difference between political disagreement and assuming the other side would actively help an enemy kill Americans.
