The Island of Abu Musa has a strategic location and although occupied by Iran, has always been claimed by the UAE, specifically the Emirate of Sharjah. Iranian forces sized the island and a couple others in 1971. Note that the British forces simply stood by while the Iranians forcefully occupied and executed the local police force.

Did Obama provide any reasoning for not wanting Iran to have nukes, or did he just make a peace plan, like Trump has done?

These oil rich countries have all the money they need to do whatever they want. Giving them 32billion in adjusted cost of living money is a drop in their bucket. All we tried to do is keep them from weaponizing nuclear materials.
