Incomparable? We have IP addresses. It is a matter of how much one wants to become involved.IP's are an inexact science for narrowing down to an exact individual. To a particular device or network, certainly. You can identify "location" - but not "uniqueness". I gave my scenario of that call to LE, what's yours?
We tell the cops all we know and let them do their jobs. Or do we tell the Mods. and then the Mods tell the Cops? Or do we do as you suggest and just ignore it because it is to much trouble?
My point is, it becomes very tricky indeed when you are the one under the gun.
We were talking about the chain of command. Paterno followed the chain of command. Should the law be changed? Should the person who saw the action be the one to report it to police? I say yes.
Paterno should not have even been involved. McQuiry should have went to the police IMHO.
My defense of Paterno has been the overzealous fools that think with hindsight they know exactly wtf they would have done. With hindsight, Paterno knew what he would have done different. Unfortunatly we do not livve in a world where hindsight is allowed except on Monday morning on talk radio where we all would know how and what to do. Originally Posted by WTF
